The Hollow Man – Glasses

This is the beginning of a weeks long project called ‘Tom the Hollow Man’. In a group of 5, working against time, recreated our own perception of an invisible man. Starting by making a frame for the glasses. Using a triangular design to hold the glasses with 3 points of contact, allowing the puppeteer to make bold gestures and still be able to hold the glasses in a static position.

Nylon thread used for fishing is strong, but most importantly practically invisible. I used this to give the illusion of hovering glasses and other objects such as a coffee cup. Even though it is not completely invisible, it gives a good illusion of a body’s movements.
